How can I turn 'cookies' and Java script on?

Follow the instructions specific to your system.

Internet Explorer 5.x and above (PC)

  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. From Internet Options, select the Security tab.
  3. Highlight the icon for the Internet Zone.
  4. In the "Security level for this Zone" select the Default Level button and then move the slider to the Medium section. If you prefer to use Custom Level settings, scroll down to Cookies, make sure 'Allow cookies that are stored on your computer,' and 'Allow per-session cookies (not-stored)' are set to Enable.
  5. Next for JavaScript settings, scroll down to Scripting, make sure Active Scripting is set to Enable.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close and reopen your browser.

In Internet Explorer 5.x, specifying a site as a Trusted Site overrides your global cookie settings that manage cookies from all other sites you visit. Specifying Alamo.com as a Trusted Site allows you to accept cookies from us, yet follow the rules you have set forth for all other sites on the Internet.

Internet Explorer 6.x (PC)

  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. From Internet Options, select the Security tab.
  3. Click Custom Level.
  4. To enable JavaScript settings, scroll down to 'Scripting,' make sure 'Active Scripting' is set to Enable.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click OK again.
  7. Next for Cookies, Select the Privacy Tab.
  8. Click Advanced. If 'Override automatic cookie handling' is checked, make sure that 'First-party Cookies' is set to Accept.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click OK again.
  11. Close and reopen your browser.

In Internet Explorer 6.x, entering a site in the "Per Site Privacy Action" window overrides your global cookie settings that manage cookies from all other sites you visit. Entering Alamo.com allows you to accept cookies from us, yet follow the rules you have set forth for all other sites on the Internet.

Netscape Navigator 4.x (Communicator) (PC)

  1. From the Edit Menu, select Preferences.
  2. Under Categories, click Advanced.
  3. In the 'Cookies' section select 'Accept all cookies.
  4. Also select the 'Enable JavaScript' boxes.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close and reopen your browser.

AOL (PC)

  1. On the AOL Settings menu, click Preferences.
  2. On the "My AOL Preferences" window, click Internet Properties (WOW).
  3. On the Internet Options window, click the Security tab, and then click Custom Level.
  4. In the Settings list, scroll down until you see the word Cookies.
  5. Click the button next to the word Enable, then click OK.

You may have to quit and restart you AOL software for these settings to go into effect.

Internet Explorer 5.x (MAC)

  1. For JavaScript have your browser window active, click on Edit | Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences pop-up window expand the "Web Browser" choice if it isn't already expanded.
  3. In the drop-down list choose "Web Content".
  4. In the bottom section called "Active Content" select the "Enable scripting" box.
  5. For Cookies, in the same Preferences pop-up window, expand the "Receiving File" choice if it isn't already expanded.
  6. In the drop-down list choose "Cookies".
  7. Look for the drop-down list toward the bottom right corner of the pop-up window. It should contain 4 choices: Never Ask, Ask for each site, Ask for each cookie and Never accept. Choose any except for Never accept. "Ask for each cookie" and "Ask for each site" will prompt you for action. You may refer to the description of each choice as seen below the drop-down menu for more details.
  8. Click OK.

When enabling JavaScript or the acceptance of cookies in Internet Explorer, you must close and reopen your browser window(s) for the change(s) to take place, so please do so now.

Netscape Navigator 4.x (MAC)

  1. With the browser window active, click on Edit | Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences pop-up window select "Advance".
  3. Select the "Enable JavaScript" button to enable JavaScript.
  4. For "Cookies", select either "Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server" or "Accept all cookies".

You may have to close and reopen your browser window(s) for the change(s) to take place.
