Travel Snack Ideas: Make Your Own Trail Mix

When it comes to travel snacking, trail mix is always a family favorite.

I love making trail mix before our family vacations because it’s easy to prepare and stays fresh for days.

One fun travel hack I’ve come to love is putting our homemade trail mix in a coffee creamer jug!

The plastic bottle holds about 4 cups of trail mix, and the flip-top with spout is perfect for shaking just the right amount of trail mix into your hand.

I always keep a jug of trail mix in my bag when we’re traveling. It’s a great snack to hand off to the kids, and it works well whether we’re on the road, in the air or on the water.

  • ½ cup roasted, salted peanuts*
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds

*- Nut Free Options

  • 1 cup of Cheerios
  • ½ cup of nut-free granola

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl. Spoon the trail mix into a clean, dry, airtight container. I used an old coffee creamer jug, but you can certainly use any container you have on hand.
