How to Check Security on Any Web Page

Follow the below instructions to check the security that has been applied to any web page:

For Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.x browsers and above:

  1. Right click on the white space inside the frame that displays text.
  2. Slide down and select "Properties"
  3. If the page is in a secured environment, the "Protocol:" field value will read "HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" and the Address (URL): value will begin like this: "https://". The "s" in the "https://" prefix means that the current document resides in a secured environment.
  4. Click on "OK" or "Cancel" to close the page Properties dialog box.

For Mozilla Firefox version 2.x browsers and above:

  1. Right click on the white space inside the frame that displays text.
  2. Slide down and select "This Frame"
  3. Slide down and select "View Frame Info"
  4. If the page is in a secured environment, the Address (URL): value will begin like this: "https://". The "s" in the "https://" prefix means that the current document resides in a secured environment.
  5. Close the Frame info window.
