Our 6 Favorite Indoor Activities in Kansas City

I recently had the chance to Travel to Kansas City, Missouri. I had never been there and was really looking forward to seeing what the city had to offer. It's a wonderful city with lots of family-friendly attractions, museums, zoos, parks and tours. During my visit, I picked up our Alamo rental car at the Kansas City International Airport.

I always hope for the best weather when I'm traveling, but it is the one thing that you absolutely cannot control. So, whether you’re trying to beat the summer heat, taking cover from rain or fleeing snowy weather, I've got you covered. Don't let Mother Nature put a damper on your vacation! When bad weather strikes, take the opportunity to visit some of Kansas City’s exciting indoor attractions.

Legoland® Discovery Center

An indoor family entertainment center, Legoland® is in the Crown Center and includes a 4D cinema, Lego rides, building tips, the city of Kansas City in miniature built from Lego bricks, a soft play area and a gift shop. I really enjoyed the Lego creations that were located throughout the Lego Discovery Center. My favorite was the replica of Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz.

Hallmark® Visitors Center

Discover the story of Hallmark, from its humble beginnings in 1910 to the creation of this world-famous company, through interactive displays and fascinating exhibits. They have an actual Hallmark Hall of Fame Emmy award on display here. Visitors can pick it up and pose for pictures, so of course, I picked it up. The Emmy is much heavier than it looks!

SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium

This interactive aquarium is home to more than 5,000 sea creatures. The aquarium features a spectacular see-through ocean tunnel where sharks, stingrays and schools of fish swim overhead. Their Doodle Reef exhibit is amazing. It features several stations that allow guests to create their own virtual sea creatures which come to life on a screen within a live display!

The College Basketball Experience

Located in downtown Kansas City, The College Basketball Experience is a state-of-the-art facility that contains hands-on, interactive basketball activities and is also the home of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. It features numerous skill challenges and courts and teaches a variety of interesting college basketball historical information. My friend and I had a good time trying to shoot basketballs through the hoop. We hardly made any, but we had a lot of fun trying.
