DIY Travel Savings Bank For the Family

Saving money for travel and family summer vacations can be something that the whole family can contribute to with this genius DIY Travel Bank.

If your kids are like mine, they probably look forward to summer vacations all year long.

Instead of just pining for your next family trip, get the kids involved in the planning process by helping them create this fun DIY travel bank!

I love this craft project because it’s a great way for the whole family to be mindful about upcoming travel plans and allows everyone to contribute a little money to the family vacation fund.

You could make one bank for the whole family, or separate banks for each child. The money they save throughout the winter months can be used toward special souvenirs or events while you’re on your next family vacation.

Of course, the best part about this DIY travel bank is how beautiful it looks as a piece of decor in your home. Be sure to choose a treasured family travel photo and you’ll be reminded of those wonderful memories every time you look at it.

Happy travels!

Materials:

  • Shadow box frame with slot. These are available at craft supply stores.
  • Decorative craft paper for matting
  • Family photo (I printed mine on regular printer paper)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Travel-themed stickers

Directions:

  • Cut decorative paper for matting to fit dimensions of the back panel of your photo frame.
  • Glue decorative paper to the back panel.
  • Cut out and glue your family photo onto the decorative paper leaving an approximate 1.5-inch border around the image. This is quite versatile and you can choose to use more photos if you like.
  • Reassemble frame with photo inside.
  • Add decorative travel-themed stickers to the front of the glass.
  • Start saving for that vacation!
