Charlotte, nicknamed the Queen City, is the largest metropolitan area in North Carolina and seat of Mecklenburg County. Known as a financial hub, Charlotte also offers a variety of entertainment and cultural venues for visitors to explore.

Carowinds
Frequently referred to as the “Thrill Capital of the Southeast,” Carowinds is a 398-acre amusement park offering family fun for all ages.  The main attraction is The Intimidator, the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in the Southeast region. The park operates from late March through early November.

Discovery Place
Discovery Place is Charlotte’s science and technology museum featuring educational events, IMAX films, live animals and entertainment. Located at 301 North Tryon Street in Charlotte, Discovery Place is one of the most popular things to see and do in the city. Recent exhibit additions to Discovery Place include Fantastic Frogs, Alien Worlds and Androids, and Dinosaurs in Motion.

Levine Museum of the New South
The city of Charlotte was a representation of what the “New South” was to become following the American Civil War. The Levine Museum of the New South documents that historical period through its award-winning temporary and permanent exhibits that showcase life on the North Carolina Piedmont during and after the Civil War. Changing exhibits within the museum reflect on regional culture, arts and history.  

Nascar Hall of Fame
Charlotte and the Southeast are popular areas for motorsports racing and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). The NASCAR Hall of Fame honors race car drivers and their support crews who have demonstrated exceptional skills on the NASCAR circuit. The 150,000-square-foot facility is home to multiple interactive racing exhibits designed to educate and entertain visitors about the sport of auto racing. NASCAR racing legend Richard Petty helped unveil the first artifact at the Hall of Fame: a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere that he drove to 27 wins in 1967.

Epicentre
Located between College, Trade and Fourth Streets in Uptown Charlotte, Epicentre is a popular shopping, nightlife and restaurant destination with more than 40 venues to choose from. Visitors will find 10 outdoor patios, 200 television screens, a five-screen cinema and a bowling alley as part of the entertainment experience. Several family-fun and live music events are held at Epicentre throughout the year, and it’s located just blocks away from Time Warner Cable Arena and Bank of America Stadium where the NBA Charlotte Hornets and NFL Carolina Panthers play.
