Riga International Airport (RIX) Car Rental

All additional drivers must meet all rental requirements. Additional drivers can be added to the contract at any rental location within the same country and at any time during the rental. An additional driver fee of 5.00 EUR per day applies.

After-Hours Pick-up
This rental location offers pick-up outside the opening hours. Customers must provide their flight information including flight number and arrival time. An additional charge of 50.00 EUR applies for pick-ups outside the opening hours.

After-Hours Return
Vehicles can be returned outside the opening hours of this rental location. Please park the vehicle in a safe and secure designated parking space on the airport property only. Make sure the vehicle is locked and ensure you have gathered all personal belongings before leaving. Place the keys in the drop box. The drop box is located at the rental desk inside the airport arrivals hall. No additional charges apply for returns outside the opening hours. The renter's responsibility for the vehicle and rental charges end once an employee inspects the vehicle the next business day.

The minimum age requirement to rent all vehicles is 23. There is no maximum rental age. Renters between the age of 18 and 22 may rent all categories except Luxury Passenger Van. A young driver fee of 14.00 EUR per day applies to all renters between the age of 18 and 21.

Vehicles can be driven in Estonia and Lithuania only. Ferry crossings with the vehicle are not permitted. A cross-border fee of 49.00 EUR per border applies. In all cases, customers must inform the rental branch of their intention to leave the country with the vehicle and require authorization. Unauthorized cross-border travel will result in a breach of contract and incur a penalty charge.

Our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) limits the customer's excess in the event of:
- Damage to the vehicle's bodywork
- Damage to others or their property (3rd-party liability)
If CDW is not included in the reservation, it is an optional coverage available for purchase by the renter.
CDW reduces the customer’s excess to the following amounts:
- €900 for Economy vehicles
- €1,000 for Compact and Compact SUV vehicles
- €1,100 for Intermediate and Intermediate Wagon vehicles
- €1,400 for Intermediate SUV, Standard, Standard SUV, Standard Wagon and Luxury Passenger Van vehicles
If CDW is not included or purchased, the renter has liability up to the full market value of the vehicle. Excess will be charged every time a vehicle is damaged. CDW is not insurance.

Delivery and Collection service is available to Hotels in the center of Riga, Riga Old Town, Jurmala, Riga Ferry Harbor, Riga Railway Station and Riga Bus Station during main office hours at a charge of 20.00 EUR (incl. VAT) per delivery or collection.

Deliveries and Collections outside city limits or over 10 kilometers in distance upon renter request will cost an additional 0.75 EUR (incl. VAT) per kilometer.

All rentals where the vehicle is not returned to the same location as it was collected from will be subject to a one-way fee. This one-way fee varies based on car category, location, and pick-up date. The exact amount of the one-way fee will be displayed during the reservation process when entering the dates, the desired route, and car category.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank. As a customer you have a choice of how you pay for fuel:
Option 1 - Prepay Fuel
This option allows the renter to pay for the tank of fuel at the time of rental and return the tank empty. No refunds will be issued for unused fuel.
Option 2 - We Refill
This option allows the renter to pay the rental company at the end of the rental for gas used but not replaced. For missing fuel there is a refueling service fee of 37.50 EUR and fuel is charged at 2.80 EUR per liter.
Option 3 - You Refill
This option allows the renter to return the vehicle with a full tank to avoid extra fuel charges.

Driving Licence must have been held for at least two years for car groups EDMR (Economy), CDMR (Compact), CDAR (Compact) and CWMR (Compact Wagon-Estate), and for at least three years for all other car groups.

If the foreign driving licence is in Roman alphabet, then no international driving permit is required.

Otherwise the foreign driving licence must be accompanied by a notarized translation instead of an international driving permit.

An administration fee of 50 EUR per incident applies to all traffic violations, parking fines, speeding offences or damage cases. Loss of vehicle keys will incur will be a replacement fee of 400 EUR. Loss of car registration documents will result in a replacement fee of 200 EUR. If a customer smokes in the vehicle there is a penalty of 250 EUR. If the vehicle is returned excessively dirty, there will be a cleaning fee of up to 250 EUR.

All major credit cards, issued by either Mastercard and Visa are accepted. All cards presented must be in the renter's name. Prepaid cards, cash and debit cards are not accepted as methods of payment. A security deposit plus the estimated cost of the rental will be taken at the time of rental. The deposit is 700 EUR for the categories Economy, 800 EUR for the categories Compact and Compact SUV, 900 EUR for the categories Intermediate and Intermediate Wagon, and 1100 EUR for the categories Intermediate SUV, Standard, Standard SUV, Standard Wagon and Luxury Passenger van.

Alamo offers Roadside Assistance Protection -RAP- at select locations. RAP allows the customer to waive financial responsibility for chargeable roadside incidents such as lockouts, vehicle technical failure, towing, replacement car. RAP can be added for 2.48 Euro plus VAT per day.
RAP coverage does not include the following Flat tire, fuel delivery and key replacement.
RAP is void and null if at the time of the incident necessitating roadside assistance the renter or authorized drivers are in violation of the rental agreement. In such cases Roadside Assistance will be available but standard charges will apply.
Alamo rental locations do not provide direct Roadside Assistance to the renter. The assistance is provided by a car dealership on behalf of Alamo. RAP is available during the office rental operating hours by calling  371 29338899. Roadside Assistance outside of Latvia can also be obtained by calling 371 29338899 but is not included within this RAP package and is subject to additional charges.

All drivers must present a full valid driving license. All renters must provide a valid photo ID such as a passport or ID card. A valid credit card in the renter's name must also be presented upon collection of the vehicle.
An international driving permit is required for all customers who hold a non-European driving license. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines.
Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed which may include an identity check with an external organization.

Supplementary Liability Protection - Third Party Liability coveragage limits for third party bodily injury or death is 5,000,000 EUR and for third party property damage, 1,000,000 EUR. There is no specific minimum coverage amount for this insurance policy as ever case is investigated individually.
