Skip the rental counter lines and check-in directly by using Alamo's touch-screen kiosk. Check-in using the kiosk and a receipt-sized rental agreement is printed. San Diego Visitor Information
Welcome to sunny San Diego! This bustling SoCal city is a great place to visit, whether this is your first vacation to the Golden State or you're an old hand at exploring California.
San Diego International Airport
San Diego International Airport, which used to be known as Lindbergh Field, boasts two terminals, many places to eat, drink, and shop, and beautiful art displays. It's only three miles away from San Diego's downtown, so after you pick up your rental car, you'll be within easy reach of some of the city's best attractions.
USS Midway Museum
Less than three miles from the airport, you'll come across the famous USS Midway Museum. This was once the largest ship in the world, but you'll have more to marvel at than its sheer size. Take advantage of the self-guided audio tour, which will give you insightful information about 60 exhibits within this enormous aircraft carrier. There are fun activities, too, including a flight simulator.
Hopping on a boat and taking a water tour is one of the best activities you can do around the airport. Let's just hope you don't get seasick! There are several companies that will welcome you aboard, including Randy Phillips Tours, Speed Boat Adventures, and San Diego Sailing Tours.
Old Town Trolley Tours
About four and a half miles from the airport, you can hop on a trolley and get insight into the history of beautiful San Diego. You can either stay on the trolley for the entire tour and listen to your friendly guide talk about the marvels of the city, or you can hop off and hop back on again at any time so you can freely explore the points of interest along the way.
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
Only a couple of miles away from the airport, you can go back in time. Old Town San Diego State Historic Park has beautifully restored buildings from the 1800s. You'll gain a true understanding of what life was like when California was just beginning. Guided tours are available, but you're also free to explore on your own.
San Diego's little Italy is only two and a half miles from the airport. Here, you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and stop by a fascinating cultural center.
Your San Diego adventure can begin almost as soon as your plane lands at San Diego International Airport.
