Denver Visitor Information
Denver is located roughly a short 30-minute drive from the Rocky Mountains which makes it a great starting point to your trip!
Denver International Airport
Denver International airport, or DEN, is the fifth-busiest airport in the United States. It's also the largest airport in the country by total land area. After your flight touches down, you can enjoy the more than 140 shops and services there. Or, you can head straight to the rental car shuttle which will take you to the Alamo branch located at the airport. Take advantage of the self-service kiosk located inside and get on the road even faster.
It's important to note that the airport is 25 miles from downtown, so it's a longer than average drive to the city center. Make sure to leave enough time for returning your rental car as the highways leading to the airport tend to get busy. Airport signage makes it easy to find the rental car branch on the way back.
Denver Botanic Gardens
Stroll through one of the top five botanic gardens in the United States. There are year-round events, so you can enjoy the gorgeous greenery no matter when you visit. There are two restaurants on-site, making it easy to spend the entire day there. And parking is free, so you won't have to worry about finding a place to put your rental car.
The Denver Zoo, another place for nature lovers, is sure to delight. Check out Asian elephants, cheetahs, aye-ayes, and more. The zoo is open every day of the year, and it often hosts events, so be sure to check its calendar before you go. You might find the lecture series to be particularly fascinating.
Denver Museum of Nature and Science
This three-level museum is a large treasure trove of scientific knowledge and enlightening experiences. In addition to the exhibits that are always there, you may be treated to a special exhibit when you visit. You may learn about dinosaurs, the human body, wildlife, and so much more! There is even an IMAX screen where you can experience science in a whole new way.
Cherry Creek State Park
If you just can't get enough of the great outdoors, Cherry Creek State Park is the place for you. Here, you can enjoy model airplane flying, horseback riding, hiking, biking, birding, boating, and so much more. During the warmer months, you can even swim here.
If shopping is your thing, you can't miss out on Southlands. There are over 150 retailers in this four-block area. It has a "Main Street" feel that will take you back in time. Pick up clothing or souvenirs, or just stroll along and take in all the sights.
Denver has plenty to explore! Hop in your rental car and see what the Mile-High City is all about.
