Atlanta Visitor Information
The South has warm weather, beautiful scenery, and a charming culture — you can find all of that and more when you explore Atlanta.
After your flight lands, take the Sky Train to the airport's Rental Center, and then head to the Alamo counter. Pick up the keys for your compact car, SUV, or other vehicle, and start exploring the area around the airport. The following attractions are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Southern fun in A-Town.
World of Coca-Cola
Do you love America's iconic sweet drink? Indulge yourself at the World of Coca-Cola, where you can sample more than 100 flavors of Cola. You can even get your photo taken with the brand's famous polar bear. This attraction is only a 15-minute drive from the airport.
Atlanta Botanical Garden
Just 20 minutes away from the airport is the lovely Atlanta Botanical Garden. This park has 30 acres of gorgeous blossoms. What you see will depend on when you visit. If you visit in late winter or early spring, for example, you can attend Orchid Daze, which is an annual celebration of orchids. Head to the garden's website to find out what will be in bloom when you make your trip.
Atlanta History Center
Less than 20 miles from the airport is the Atlanta History Center, where you can dive into the rich history of this Southern city. You can learn about the Civil War and Native Americans in Georgia, and so much more.
Explore history from the perspective of African Americans when you visit the APEX Museum, which is less than 10 miles from the airport. The museum has fascinating exhibits that tell the story of the African Diaspora. After you check out the museum, stroll around the neighborhood; right across the street is a business that was started by Alonzo Herndan, a former slave who became a wealthy entrepreneur after he gained his freedom.
College Football Hall of Fame
The College Football Hall of Fame is roughly 11 miles from the airport, and it's definitely worth the trip if you're a fan of the game. Test out your skills at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Skill Zone, learn about some of the football's past greats, and watch a film in the Game Day Theater.
Atlanta is an amazing city, and you can start exploring it as soon as you leave the airport.
